inception cookies.

a buddy of mine made a comment to me a couple of weeks ago about how she wanted cookies. leave it to me to make a mental note of that. I'm big on surprises so I wanted to make her something that would make her go "holy shit", and I was trolling tablespoon.com one day (which is one of my favorite things to do) when I stumbled upon this recipe for oreo-stuffed chocolate chip cookies. yeah, an oreo-stuffed chocolate chip cookie...a cookie within a cookie...an inception cookie. an inception cookie seemed like the perfect thing to make for someone to surprise them at their job so I said let's do it!

can I just say that I love the way creamed butter looks? I never really put that much thought in "creaming your butter and sugar", but I was watching some baking tutorials online and I saw the difference between just whisking it around and when you actually sit there for 2-3 minutes mixing. made me very happy. ^__^

the original recipe said 10 oz of chocolate chips but I could only find 12oz bags at  the store so I was like, "fuck that". seriously, you think anyone complains about extra chocolate chips? I didn't think so either.

I can't remember the last time I used an ice cream scoop for anything. I don't really do store-bought ice cream, and when I do have ice cream in my house it's because I made it myself, and if it's at that point then it's because I'm being a fat-ass and no ice cream scoop is required for that. I wanted to get these cookies right though so I found one. :D

I made one for myself to see how it would come out. needless to say, I was very pleased haha.

here's a link to the inception cookies. btw, they're fucking huge. my friend loved them though so my sneaky baking tactic was worth it. I love baking and being in the kitchen in general doing women's work, but I never have anyone to make shit for a lot of the time. so it felt good to not only bake cookies, but I got to make them for someone special. win win, or is it an inception win: a win within a win?
